The following parameters are used for medium machining of low-alloy stell with a Brinell hardness of 180:

Cutting depth = a_p = .031 in

Feed = f = .006 in/rev

Cutting speed = V = 875 ft/min

These cutting parameters should result in a tool life of T = 15 min. To get 60 minutes of tool life the user should multiply the specified cutting speed by 0.7. Assume that the cost of each insert is $10 and it has two cutting edges. It takes 5 minutes to index the insert and 5 minutes to replace it. you may assume that this is a constant velocity cutting scenario.
