The Human Resources Director at your company has taken the research concerning preparedness very seriously. To make certain your company's employees are strong business communicators, the company has invested in a year-long project to provide on-the-job training for its employees to increase business communication skills. You are required to provide the Human Resources office with quarterly updates. Write a one-page, single spaced Progress Report in Memo format to the Human Resources Director.
To prepare your report:
Consider your progress toward becoming more prepared for the job (or the next promotion) in terms of your business communication skills.
Review your business communication goals, your strengths, your achievements relevant to your career and your challenges and/or weaknesses.
Include an overall summary of your stated business communication goals, the goals you have achieved and/or progress made; any discoveries you have made about your skills thus far; improvements planned going forward; and steps to make those improvements;
Use the best practices for a Memo-style Progress Report to format your Word document. You will need to write your own headings appropriate to your progress report.
At the end of your memo, scroll down several lines and then write two paragraphs in which you include the following:
Paragraph One: Purpose/Audience/Information
What is the purpose of the message?
What do you want the outcome to be?
Who is the audience?
What do they need to know or understand to produce your desired outcome?
Paragraph Two: Medium
Is memo the best medium for this message? Why or why not?
If not, what would you choose and why?
