Question

Sara Parker is a 21-year-old female who is an insulin-dependent diabetic admitted to the hospital through the emergency room with a tentative diagnosis of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Her chief presentation was vomiting and diarrhea, she reports feeling faint because she "can't stop going to the bathroom." Her partner also tells you "she had previously been drinking lots of water; Sara told her she was so thirsty, and she couldn't stop eating either." Her partner, who accompanied her stated that her symptoms began a few days ago after she "caught the flu" from her nephew who was visiting. She said Sara has been sleeping on the couch for the past 4 days.
