Ch. 6 Discussion Question
COLLAPSE
The World wide web and the internet may sound similar, they are in fact two very different concepts. The World wide web (WWW) uses the internet to function. WWW are the pages you see whenever you connect online, using your internet. WWW is an information system in which people and networks post documents and resources. To access WWW, you need to have some sort of internet access, which would allow you to have access to all the material available (billions and billions of pages). Internet access is typically a monthly subscription, via either your home service, or/and telephone data provider. With internet, you may be able to share your internet to multiple devices by using hotspot, this would allow you to have internet on multiple devices, each of which would be capable of using the world wide web.
In short, the world wide web is the ‘www' you put before entering a website page. To access ‘www' you have to have the internet connected on the same device that you are connecting to ‘www' with. Some examples of internet providers are: AT&T (Phone data service and home service (U-Verse Internet)), Spectrum (Home service & Phone data service), T-Mobile, Verizon, Cox, to name some.
