Reading the patient's medical records is far much easier and quicker than talking to the patient. It eliminates patient interaction, which depending on the patient, could be emotionally taxing and require a lot of time. However, it's very important to talk to your patients because it makes them feel as if their voices are being heard and it's very important to create a bond of trust. I believe having a good rapport with your patients and a bond of trust helps with recovery and their stay in the hospital.
