You are the project manager for a project where quality is an important constraint, and you are trying to correct a problem with a machine that makes parts that are used in complex medical imaging equipment. As a result of carrying out your Control Quality process, you discover that unfortunately these parts are frequently made with defects. You have decided to hold a meeting to discuss the quality control and quality improvements in the organisation and have identified fishbone or cause effect diagrams as quality control techniques. In addition, there are three possible techniques you could use to improve quality and ensure "fit for purpose" results - these being, six sigma, Six Nines of quality and Kanban, among others.

a) Discuss the features of each of the given techniques of quality control and quality improvement. Your answer should explain the technique, its main features and how it could be used for quality control or quality improvement.

b) Among the quality improvement techniques given above, explain which will be preferable, giving reasons.
