Teamwork and collaboration are very important in nursing. It helps to make working in the nursing station very effective and improve nursing outcomes for patients. Baek et al. (2023) did a study in Korea to determine how effective nursing teamwork and collaboration are, and the finding was that a high level of nursing teamwork and collaboration helps to promote patient-centered care and help reduce the number of working hours in the nursing station. In a practice where teamwork and communication provided a positive outcome on my side, there was a time we had a patient in the medical/surgery unit who was becoming hypotensive, and one could easily see that the patient was becoming drowsy with time. The first thing that I did was to call for help as I started attending to the patient, at least by taking the vital signs. As a RN came to help, she made a call to the physician while we started doing what we could do. We started the patient on oxygen at 2 L/min by nasal prongs, as oxygen saturation was at 86% on room air. The RN then placed an IV cannula on the right cubital fossa and started running normal saline.
