Task - Heritage BIM Bibliographic Analysis
This task is designed to allow you meet the learning outcome: 'Demonstrate understanding of how Budding Information Modelling impacts on renovation and heritage aspects of construction projects'.
You are required to develop a bibliometric analysis of current work in the field of HBIM. The collation of research can be undertaken as a collaborative activity between the group and you can make use of the range of digital tools available to bring together research information. This may include Refworks and Canvas collaboration tools. As part of this the data gathering should seek to identify the location of origin for the research, the underlying topic and the date of the research. As a collaborative group you should look to provide an exhaustive list of research which can be used by all members of the team.
Using the research gathered above, you are required to undertake an individual outline bibliometic analysis of the research. An example of such an analysis can be found in the following paper:
Li. X., Wu, Shen, G.Q., Wang, X. and Teng, Y., 2017. Mapping the knowledge domains of Building Information Modeling (BIM): A bibliometric approach Automation in Construction, 84, pp.195.206.
As a minimum you will be required to analyse:
- Key themes of research undertaken
- Geographic analysis of research/output locations
- Keyword analysis
- Timeline analysis of the research
Using the analysis, you should provide a discussion of the research directions and identify areas that you believe are potential areas that could be researched in the future.
Your report should be presented in the form of a short research paper and be approximately 3000 words in length, excluding references and abstract. The paper should be referenced and citations should be completed using the Harvard method.
