Developing your talent pool

  1. Discuss the "make vs. buy" decision as it applies to your talent management strategy.
  2. Will you look internally, externally, or use a combination of the two when developing your talent pool? Your position should be supported by the assigned readings.
  3. What are some of the potential risks to your chosen strategy? How do you intend to mitigate those risks?

Identifying future human capital requirements

  1. Think about what your organization might look like 3-5 years from now. Are the pivotal positions you have identified the same? If yes, explain why you think they will remain the same. If no, what might their new pivotal positions be? Why?
  2. With respect to your answer above, what type of human capital will we need in order to remain successful in 3-5 years? Depending on your answers in Step 2, should we begin identifying individuals that have-or have the potential to develop-this type of human capital now?
