Question

Have you ever had a manager or director that did not take employees into account when planning? My biggest example comes from when I was in college and I worked retail. I worked at a surf/skate shop and often did a lot of the visual merchandising. Anytime we would have a brand rep come into the store, it was always a mad dash to remerchandise a particular area of the store. Although we usually had a notice of when these visits would occur, it always seemed like a full on emergency to the store employees. This would often mean late nights or coming in early - even though many of the employees were college students like myself and it could mean missing class or running late on assignments. It made me feel underappreciated and that my management staff did not care about my life outside of the store. Class, how can your faith or worldview impact the planning process? If you are taking the kind manager approach, what could you do to show kindness to your team when planning?
