Synthesis of di & tri substituted benzenes (symmetrical tribromo benzene, 2-amino-5-methyl phenol, 3-nitro-4-bromobenzoic acid, 3,4- dibromonitro benzene, 1,2,3- trimethyl benzene)

The sample assignment was about the synthesis of tri-substituted benzene. The introduction of one substituent (electrophile or nucleophile) in the benzene ring is very simple which just need the reaction condition. But it is very tricky to introduce three substituents (electrophile or nucleophile) in the benzene ring, because it need deep understanding about the nature and the effect of already present substituent. The substituents can be divided into two main groups, one is electron withdrawing group while the other is electron donating group. The electron withdrawing group direct the incoming electrophile toward Meta position (1-3) while electron donating group direct the incoming electrophile toward Ortho (1-2) or Para (1-4) position.
