Question

A 65-year-old female arrived in the emergency department with symptoms of shortness of breath, feeling lightheaded, heart rate feels "funny." and swelling in legs and feet. She says the symptoms started a week ago but have worsened in the last 24 hours. Has a surgical history of hysterectomy and hiatal hernia repair approximately 20 years ago. No smoking history. Takes medication for hypertension. Developed atrial fibrillation and has been on antiarrhythmic medication for approximately 10 years. Sees cardiologist every 6 months for follow-up and electrocardiogram (ECG) which she states is "OK". Admit to the hospital for monitoring.
