Another power of markers is consumers' self-image and behavior play a significant role in marketing. According to Solomon and Dahl (2014), marketers can convince consumers to decide to buy those specific products, but consumers will not realize that advertising is helping them make this decision. Advertising has a significant impact on the audience. Women like to compare their appearance with the models that appear on the ad and change their perception of their body shapes and sizes, even if they only watch 30 minutes of TV shows (Ibid). They use people's self-concept and self-esteem to manipulate consumers to buy some products. Companies advertise their products by making consumers think they will have the same social status when they buy them. It's easy to see that consumers buy products that lead to their self-definition. When actors want to play a role, they need the right props and costumes to express the character's characteristics (Ibid). For consumers, different products will bring them different features in society. Using the same products as others can help consumers establish their self-concept and social identity. When consumers' social image in a new environment is not clear enough, using the same product can help them shape their image more quickly. Cigarettes have always been defined as a symbol of the male representation in society. Because each consumer has multiple different images, companies can better use their personal knowledge to sell goods (Ibid).
