Presentation Topics (L.O.1)

This component is an individual presentation which you will complete near the end of the module. It forms 30% of the overall mark for the module.

Your presentation should be 15 min in length. It is important not to exceed the allowable 15 minutes. There will be a 5 min question session following the presentation.

You may choose one of the themes from the list below to form your presentation. Each theme is closely related to the Health Policies module and the weekly teaching sessions. The themes are varied allowing you to choose one area that is of particular interest to you. An alternative theme can be discussed and agreed with your tutor.

The presentation will be assessed by the module facilitator and another member of the academic staff. The marking criteria are as follows:

Provide a comprehensive account for the background of the area chosen for your presentation; examine the main themes and concepts of the area of your presentation; demonstrate a good analysis of the main features of the area of your presentation; present spoken and written material with clarity and confidence; competently deal with follow up questions demonstrating a very good understanding of the areas under consideration; locate good sources of information and speak and write in fluent prose, summarising material and arguments competently.

Provide a comprehensive account of the background of the area chosen for your presentation; fully examine the main themes and concepts of the area of your presentation; demonstrate an excellent analysis of the main features of the area of your presentation; n present relatively complex material in a clear and competent oral and written manner, identifying and focusing on some of the major relevant issues; locate a wide range of sources of information, and produce properly referenced written work that is of a high standard.
