One of the biggest driving forces for Tesla's success is the movement toward sustainability and lessening environmental impact. When Tesla first came onto the scene and became successful, the push for environmentally friendly initiatives in business and consumerism were at an all-time high. Making environmentally responsible decisions was fresh on the minds of consumers.

Now, with the new administration in the White House, environmental problems and issues are being downplayed and often overlooked (sometimes due to the administration's stance on the environment and sometimes due to the other issues in the news). This could potentially slow the push for both consumers and automakers to be conscious of environmental impact, and subsequently have an effect on the electric vehicle industry.
