Case Study C Imagine you and your group have formed a consulting company. Healthcare organizations call you and hire you to improve upon their cultural competency. In this particular case, an organization has called you and asked for your assistance following a series of upsetting events at the organization. An employee was fired and sued the company for racial discrimination. Several of her close friends still work there and they now mistrust the working environment. The surrounding community is uneasy about recent police interactions in which they believe the police exercised excess force. The healthcare facility is surrounded by protests and demonstrations related to the events. Patient satisfaction ratings decreased from an average of 4.5 out of 5 down to an average of 3.0 out of 5. Revenue is down. The healthcare organization is not making the profits that it used to, and is considering the possibility of staff layoffs if things don’t change soon. The healthcare organization isn’t sure yet if they want to hire your organization, but your group has been asked to make a presentation with strategies for improvement. If they like your pitch, they may hire your group. Hint: Use your imagination. You may have to make up some information about the organization in order to complete this assignment. That’s okay!
