Question

A major interteam conflict in the organization was between the supply chain team and the marketing and sales team. Marketing and sales team criticized the supply chain team for laxity in distributing ordered items and hence they were the cause of the dropping number of returning customers while the supply chain department brought a counter argument citing that the marketing and sales offered clients tight delivery deadlines and which in many cases they could have negotiated for longer delivery period and as well they were aware of the limited logistic resources the department have. This was majorly motivated by lack of cooperation and consultation between the teams. To reduce the chances of this type of conflict from opening again, I would establish automated communication standard process between the departments to ensure both departments are aware of any order placed by a client. Also, I will establish a standardized process which requires both departments to approve the terms and conditions of any sale before they are disclosed to be clients. This will ensure that every department is onboard for streamlining the entire selling and distribution process.
