The scenario: In this scenario you are the instructional designer. The organization you work for has 6 production facilities, all located within a 100 mile radius of the corporate offices (where you work). Generally, each year, 30 individuals are trained to become new supervisors, and traditionally the supervisor training program has been a week long (5 full days) classroom training conducted 3 times a year at the corporate offices for groups ranging between 8 and 15 trainees. Based upon historical costs the training department has been asked to redesign the delivery of the entire program to save money. You have been tasked with the redesign of the 4-hour training session for teaching the company’s policy and disciplinary procedure for responding to and correcting disruptive employee behaviors ranging from minor issues, such as excessive absences, to major concerns, such as physical harassment. This is the primary goal of the training you need to redesign, but to be effective as a supervisor, individuals must also master/develop the supportive competencies of (be able to) manage conflict, provide feedback, and conduct formal performance reviews – which are also components of the 4-hour training. The training department (and management) realizes that classroom training will still be required for some of the training but the immediate task is to brainstorm reasonable alternatives.

The 4-part question: Based on the scenario as presented and taking into consideration the nine principles of instruction, explain your redesign recommendations for your portion of the supervisor training program including your delivery strategy, instructional strategy/method, key instructional activities, and required instructional materials.
