You are a manager/supervisor of Access Mortgage Company. At a recent staff meeting the Senior Vice President (insert instructor's name) stated that after a review of performance evaluations he/she wanted to counsel or discipline some employees for negative performance and promote other employees for outstanding work.
The VP acknowledges that these personnel decisions may cause stress and impact morale, and is very concerned about employee reaction. The VP further states that he/she has read recent newspaper articles about workplace violence in response to such employment decisions. In order to ensure employee safety and to maintain productivity the VP asks you to prepare a report that includes an analysis of the situation, recommendations to prevent potential workplace violence incidents, and a visual aid.
In order for you to complete this assignment you will need to conduct some internal (within the company) and external research (outside the company). Your internal research obtained from the Access Mortgage Human Resources Department reveals that Access Mortgage does NOT have an Employee Assistance Program OR a workplace violence prevention policy (part of your recommendations may be the formation of such programs/policies). The company also has limited security personnel.
