Assessment task title: Leadership Research Paper
Identify a recent (no more than 10 years) issue or problem that has direct or indirect relevance to organisational leadership from the reputable business media (e.g. Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, Asian Wall Street Journal, Economist, Financial Times, etc.). The organisation can be of any type, size, or nationality. Hence, it can be an Australian company, a multi-national corporation, or a not-for-profit organisation in Thailand.
Ensure you have a good understanding of the issue from relevant and trusted sources, often it is a complex issue that has been caused by a host of factors internal and external to the organisation.
For example, you may pick up issues such as the 2011 Olympus scandal, the 2015 Volkswagen emissions scandal, or the recent 7-11 Australia wage scam. Although these issues most probably have some relevance to organisational leadership, an in-depth analysis of the issues will reveal that these cannot be attributed only to organisational leaders or the leadership process within the firm as this would constitute an oversimplified understanding. A more accurate analysis would examine how organisational leadership interacts with and shapes a host of factors or turn of events that lead to the issues at hand.
The assessment will comprise:
1. A brief summary of the issue showing a comprehensive understanding of the root issue, not just the symptom. The summary forms the introduction and should take no longer than 250 words or approximately 1 page.
2. An in-depth analysis of the issue using ONE leadership theory/approach/model discussed in class (i.e. authentic leadership, destructive leadership, servant leadership).
You are responsible to obtain an accurate understanding of the theory and can benefit from the various leadership textbooks and academic journals we have at the University.
The emphasis of this assessment is how you apply the theory and use it to gain new insights at looking at the issue. A good theory will help people to create meaning and interpret reality, and your task is to facilitate that. The use of headings and sub-headings is encouraged.
3. A 500-word personal reflection of the leadership lessons that you have learnt from doing this assignment. Interact with yourself. For example, how does the lessons challenge your preconceived view? What do you need to stop or start doing?
You will need to use a minimum of ten (10) academic journal articles to support your research on the particular leadership theory you've chosen. The references used must be relevant and appropriate.
A list of good, high-quality academic journals:
? Academy of Management Review
? Academy of Management Journal
? Asia Pacific Journal of Management

? Journal of Organizational Behavior
? Leadership

? One article that serves as the primary source for the issue discussed must be attached to the assessment.
? You need to provide the result of similarity report from turnitin with your submission.
? Proper use of grammar and spelling which does not distract readers.
