This is a summary of hansel and gretel, that just list the facts of the story in a summary. Can someone correct my grammar, and make the summar flow better?

“Hansel and Gretel”, written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1895, is about two children who left in the woods to survive on their own. The story begins, when family is struck by famine and they have to make do of what they have. With the families’ last daily bread, the stepmother of the children convinces the father to abandon the children in the woods. The children become lost, and find a house made of bread, with a roof make of cake. The starving children eat the house, and are captured by a witch whose house it is. After being captured by the witch, the children are stuffed to be eaten. The children kill the witch, finds witches wealth, escapes, and find their way back home, to live happily ever after.
