The assignment consists of 2 parts:

Part 1

1. Write a 500-word summary of a communication conflict that you witnessed or experienced at work or school.
2. Do not include a solution to the conflict.
3. Bring your brief summary to class.

Part 2
1. You will be assigned a partner with whom you will exchange your brief summary.

2. Your role is to write a 500-700 word analysis of your partner's brief summary of conflict. The analysis should include:
a. an identification of what type of communication error it is;
b. an explanation of why it happened;
c. an identification of what could have been done to avoid it; and
d. an identification of steps that both parties should take to avoid conflict in the future.
3. A comprehensive analysis should include references to course materials and classroom theory.
