Assignment:
The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to produce a preliminary version of your personal reflection and growth plan. The rough draft serves as an important step in the writing process, allowing you to generate initial ideas, develop a coherent structure, and begin fleshing out your arguments and supporting evidence.
As you continue to develop your personal reflection and growth plan for the final assignment in Topic 7, it is important to note that your reflection and growth plan will continue to evolve throughout the course. Make sure to implement feedback into your rough draft that you received from your instructor regarding your outline assignment.
In this assignment, you will reflect on your personal growth through the lens of personality psychology. Your task is to write a reflective essay that summarizes your understanding of personality psychology, how it relates to your own personality, and how you plan to apply this knowledge to achieve personal growth in your chosen areas. Be sure to include specific examples and personal anecdotes to support your ideas. You will reflect on the series of self-assessment measures taken within the class thus far to identify your own personality traits, skills, strengths, and weaknesses (e.g., MBTI, Big-5, McClelland, Achievement, Optimism/Pessimism, Type A/B). You will also reflect on the personality theories covered throughout this class to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and to identify areas for personal growth and development (psychological, emotional, and spiritual).
Include the following in your reflection:
A reflection on your own personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies (preferences, behaviors, etc.). Consider how these traits have influenced your personal growth and development in areas such as relationships, personal goals, academic pursuits, and career aspirations.
Two to three areas of personal growth that you would like to focus on. These could include improving communication skills, managing stress more effectively, developing leadership abilities, improving relationships, strengthening your spiritual wellness, pursuing a new career path, etc.
Identify strategies and techniques that can help you work towards your chosen areas of personal growth using theoretical perspectives and assessments from the course. For example, if you have identified improving communication skills as a goal, you might consider practicing active listening or learning how to express yourself more effectively. Discuss how these improvements might impact your future academic, career, and relationship success.
