Please answer the following questions about the film you watched. You can write your answers in paragraph form, but please number them to relate to the question. Many students find it easiest to cup and paste the questions into a word document and type their answers underneath the question. Hint: I recommend taking notes while watching the video to help you answer the questions.
1) Briefly, summarize the ethical conflict covered in the film. Be sure to explain how it relates to business or finance.
2) Who was the whistleblower(s) in this case? What was the whistleblower working to expose and what obstacles did they have to fight against. Can you see yourself making a similar choice?
3) Read Chapter 7.5 and the module files on whistleblowing. Create a list of benefits and costs to being a whistleblower(s)? Be sure to consider how whistleblowing can impact a person financially, emotionally, socially, and physically.
4) All of these whistleblower cases have some things in common. These whistleblowers were ultimately successful it drawing attention to their issue and publicizing their concerns. What are a few personal characteristics of the whistleblower(s) in this film that you think contributed to their success?
5) If you had to guess, do you the whistlebowers actions come more from a place of virtue ethics, Duty-Based ethics, or consequentialism? (We discussed these concepts in Module 2). Details are in the textbook and here Virtue Ethics, Duty Based Ethics (Deontology), and Utilitarianism (Consequentialism).
6) Share something you learned from this module that could help you in your future career.
