Select a theoretical perspective for your approach to the group, such as a person-in-environment perspective, systems theory, social learning theory, psychosocial development theory, or an ecological perspective.

• Research group intervention strategies aligned with the selected theory that would support group social work practice with the target population.

Develop a plan that applies the selected theoretical perspective to describe intervention strategies intended to benefit the needs of a specific population. In your plan, you should:

• Summarize the characteristics of the target population and a focus issue of theirs that would benefit from the support of a social work group. Identify the type of group model you selected to meet the needs of this population and problem.
• Describe a theoretical perspective that supports the type of group and population. Explain how this theoretical perspective helps social workers better understand the population or the issue. Support your explanation with research.
• Provide at least 2 examples of interventions aligned with the selected theoretical orientation that would be appropriate for this group. Justify your rationale with research on the use of this theory with similar groups facing this issue.
• Describe the importance of diversity in the group. Identify potential ethical issues that may arise from working with this group and explain the NASW guidelines for handling such issues.
