Following the HIPAA and HITECH regulations is the responsibility of all healthcare workers no matter the role or position they have within the facility. Healthcare facilities are required to ensure the confidentiality of all PHI housed within the facility, identify, and protect against threats, protect against impermissible disclosure, and ensure compliance within their workforce ("Summary of the HIPAA security rule," 2022). Facilities can achieve compliance through the education of their workforce regarding HIPAA, conduct a risk analysis yearly, and ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place.
