Answer each of the following five questions with brief essays
1. In Chapter, Austriaco characterizes the moral life as "the pursuit of beatitude." What, specifically, does that mean? Why and how, in bioethics, does such an approach lead to focusing on the evaluation of "acts of the individual person"?
2. According to Austriaco, a human act is "properly specified" by determining "its object, its intention, and its circumstances." How are each of those features defined? Using an example other than Austriaco's, explain why each of them must be "good" for the action itself to be good.
3. Summarize Austriaco's account of the "principle of double effect." What makes it so important to have and apply such a principle? Use your own example to explain your answer.4. In Chapter 2, Austriaco describes and rebuts five "objections" to claiming, as the Catholic Church does, that direct abortion is always gravely immoral. Briefly describe each of those objections, and briefly summarize Austriaco's rebuttals of each.
5. Using Austriaco's discussion and sources as your guide, explain why the Catholic Church condemns both contraception and artificial procreation.
