Physical Sciences

CubeSats are tiny satellites that began as an educational experiment but are now included in many commercial and government space launches. A CubeSat is a 10-cm cube that weighs up to 1.33 kg. A random sample of CubeSats set for launch in 2013 was obtained and the weight of each was measured.

a. Each CubeSat has optimal launch characteristics if the weight is close to 1 kg. Is there any evidence to suggest that the mean weight of CubeSats scheduled for launch is different from 1? Assume the distribution is normal, s = 0.1, and use a = 0.05.

b. Compute the p value for this hypothesis test.
