Question
One of your clients is a woman named An. An had a car accident five years ago and suffered a traumatic brain injury and as a result, has a cognitive impairment. An has trouble comprehending information, problems with her short-term memory and sometimes slurs or confuses words when she speaks. Before her accident, An was a lawyer for an environmental organisation and spent much of her time attending and speaking at protests and town hall meetings. An tells you that she has been feeling extremely disempowered and down since her accident. She tells you that she misses being involved in, and making a difference within, the community and that she doesn't feel like a valued member of society anymore. She tells you that she doesn't feel comfortable attending community meetings anymore as she doesn't feel that she can keep up or contribute. She tells you she would need people to repeat what they say or record it for her in some way so she could go over it after the meeting and then submit questions or suggestions via email or in writing. An has told you that she still enjoys painting and that she is able to do this independently.
