Requirements

The purpose of this assignment is to do a case study of an individual struggling with a psychological disorder, adapting the OATTS template (found in Modules....Course Resources).

The individual you choose to assess should have strong signs/symptoms of a psychological disorder, and may be living or deceased. Comorbid conditions should also be identified (if any), and discussed, in "Origin", with the rest of the paper focusing on what you consider to be the primary disorder.

You can choose one of the following, or somebody else you have learned about through history, the media, readings, etc.: Bruce Jenner, Marilyn Monroe, Robin Williams, Paul Bernardo, Karla Homolka, Howard Hughes, Adam Lanza, Patty Duke, Jim Carrey, Carrie Fisher, Richard Dreyfuss, Demi Lovato, Michael Phelps, Margot Kidder, Lady Gaga, Kurt Cobain, Charlie Sheen. You may choose somebody else, but check with me first for approval.

You will need to determine, using the online DSM 5 guide (also found in Modules....Course Resources), which of the disorders your person is struggling with.

• Start your paper with a cover page that states the name of the person you chose.
• For the format of the rest of your paper, use the headings from the OATTS template. The "Origin" should identify when, and how, the symptoms of the disorder(s) were first identified in your chosen person. "Assessment" should identify the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for the disorder(s), and which symptoms for each were noticed in your chosen person. The "Theories" section should review the theories as to the causes of the disorder(s) as noted in your course material. "Treatment" should review what treatment options have been tried, or should be tried, with your chosen person. The "Summary" section should provide a summary paragraph regarding your chosen person and her/his disorder(s).
• Include a reference page at the end of your report. In addition to your textbook, and online DSM 5 guide, you must use at least two additional references to complete your case report.
• Your reference citations and reference page should be in APA format.
• Your paper should be double-spaced, with 12 pt font and 1" margins.
• Number your pages.
• Length should be approx. 5 pages (excluding cover and reference pages).
Marks will be determined as follows:
• Origin - 3 points
• Assessment - 5 points
• Theories - 5 points
• Treatment - 4 points
• Summary - 2 points
• References - 3 points
