Researchers have identified mutations in the coding region of the lacI gene that lead to a change in the structure of the lacI repressor protein. In these mutants, the lacI protein's allolactose binding pocket is now permanently in the "allolactose-bound" state in the absence of allolactose. Explain fully what consequence, if any, this will have on the production of lacZ protein in the mutant E. coli cells.
