Problem 1. Structure of Industrial Assets
For your selected organisation or facility carryout a literature search or interviews with relevant persons to determine the structure of the organisation or facilities assets. In your response you should include tables and diagrams where appropriate to support your discussion.
1. For your own organisation/facility draw a process flow diagram. The provided process flow diagram should include at least 20 identified assets and areas of storage.
2. Based upon the 20 identified assets in the provided process flow diagram utilise an analytical methodology to determine and discuss the organisations/facilities 10 most critical assets/units.
3. For your own organisation define what is meant by a unit of anasset and provide examples of asset units within your own organisation/facility.
4. Identify a unit of the organisations assets describe the function of the identified unit and draw a hierarchical division of items of the identified unit.
5. In the case of a complex replaceable item (CRI) for example a gearbox, discuss what factors need to be taken into consideration when deciding on whether to replace or repair the item.
6. For your own facility identify and discuss operating systems with 100% redundancy or stand by units, Discuss the identified units operating strategy and maintenance strategy.
7. Outline and discuss with the aid of a process flow chart how rotables are controlled within the organisation.
Problem 2. Objectives
For your selected organisation or facility carryout a literature search or interviews with relevant persons to determine the setting of maintenance objectives. In your response you should include tables, diagramsand computer screen shotswhere appropriate to support your discussion.
1. Determine and outline the vision/mission statement for the organisation and the maintenance department.
2. Outline and discuss the process for the development of maintenance objectives within the organisation.
a. Determine and outline howthe maintenanceobjectives are linked to the operational objectives.
b. Using examples of the maintenance department objectives, determine if the maintenance objectives have been developed in the SMART format.If the current maintenance objectives have not been developed in the SMART format, How would you rewrite the objectives utilising the SMART format.
c. Discuss the effectiveness of the current maintenance objectives to meet the production and maintenance objectives,
d. Outline and discuss with improvement initiatives, 3 areas where the current maintenance objectives fail to meet the requirements of your organisation.
3. IDENTIFY and discuss the maintenance department leading and lagging KPI's utilised within your organisation,
a. Utilising your own organisation's maintenance department provide examples of and describe your understanding of leading and lagging maintenance department KPI's utilised within your organisation.
b. Explain the data utilised to determine and track the organisations maintenance department KPI's result and determine the organisational/maintenance reason for the application of the KPI.
Problem 3. PowerPoint Presentation
Upon completion of your report the student is to prepare a PowerPoint Presentation (with presenter notes) that includes the following,
• Maximum of 15 PowerPoint slides.
• Provides a logical summary of the answers to Problems 1 - 3 of the assignment. For presentation to senior management ofthe student's organisation.
