Question

Topic focuses on structural factors contributing to community health status and health inequalities one factor that is continuously concerning is the lack of culturally competent care in health facilities to ensure patients and staff are seen regardless of gender, ethnic disparities, cultural beliefs, practices, and language, to close the health care gap. Drawing from my experience I've witnessed patients at urgent care being spoken down due to language barrier and the clinic not having translators or devices to assist with translations, resulting in the patient being completely unaware of what going on, their diagnosis, and treatment. Moreover, many structural factors could be contribute to issues like these in the community as I have seen multiple healthcare care facilities lack culturally competent care. To improve health of communities and health equity altogether and reduce inequalities in health care and services government policies must address it to ensure health care is provided equally where the zip code you reside in should not determine the quality of care, unformaely health care isn't the only thing that we see being impacted, housing, and education among so many others.
