Question: Consider the texts we have read this week: Alexie's "The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me" and Douglass's "Learning to Read and Write."

Imagine that you have been confronted by a friend who is considering dropping out of college. Since he/she (you'll choose the name) has been having to work so hard to pass classes, s/he wonders if it's really worth the effort. Your friend desperately wants to become a teacher to inspire others, but a degree is a necessity, but the motivation is waning.

Can you help me, I don't know where to start write a motivational letter/email to your friend (drawing on the reading you've done in this module) to encourage him/her to continue working through the challenges in order to become a teacher. Be sure that you reference Alexie, Douglass, or both in your letter/email so that you add some strong support beyond your own opinion. You are also free to pull in Johnson's ideas from last week in addition to at least one of this week's authors.
