A stroke is caused by an alteration in the oxygen that the brain is receiving. This change can be stem from an occlusion in a blood vessel or bleeding that is present in the brain. Due to the inadequate amount of oxygen to the brain due to the onset of a stroke, brain cells would begin to die and body functions will begin to be altered. According to Cleveland Clinic (2022), some of the signs and symptoms of a stroke are the following: Onset of one-sided weakness or paralysis Slurred speech Speech alterations (aphasia) Loss of muscle control on one side of face. Loss of muscle control on one side of your face. Sudden loss of one or more symptoms (i.e.- vision, smell, hearing, taste and/or touch) Blurred or double vision Nausea/vomiting Ataxia Vertigo Neck stiffness. Seizures Amnesia Emotional instability and personality changes. Confusion or agitation. Sudden headache Syncope Coma When a stroke is experienced, the body is impaired on the opposite side of which the stroke took place. For example, if a stroke takes place in the left side of the brain, the right side of the body will be affected. A transient ischemic.
