Consider an aluminum single crystal that has been stretched in tension applied parallel to = [100] (σ = +250 kPa) and compressed parallel to = [010] (σ y = -50 kPa), with σ z  = 0, where = [001]. Assume that slip occurred on the (111) in the [110] direction and only on that slip system. Also assume that the strains are small.

A. Calculate the ratios of resulting strain, εyand εzx .

B. If the crystal were strained until εx = 0.0100, what would the angle be between the tensile axis and [100]?
