Several police officers were tested in an experiment to determine whether or not a suspects' behavior affected the officer's ability to accurately describe them. Police offers interrogated volunteer "suspects." Some "suspects" were hostile towards their officers during interrogation and some were not hostile. The hostile "suspects" were in the test group labeled "stress" and the nonhostile "suspects" were the "nonstress" group. The officers were interviewed a week later and asked to describe their suspect. Their scores are below:

Nonstress: n = 38, mean score (xbar) = 52.9, s = 10.9

Stress: n = 38, mean score (xbar) = 44.2, s = 12.8
