Assessment - Strategy Map and IT
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to assess skills in working with Enterprise Architecture (EA) and understanding of EA frameworks and strategy.
At the completion of this unit students should be able to:
a. Explain what constitutes value for an organisation.
b. Lead a discussion on the role of EA to support business strategic goals through IT alignment, planning and governance.
d. Report on the relationship between EA and other architectures such as system, solution, data, application and technology.
e. Investigate the appropriate use of industry EA methods and frameworks.
Assignment Description
Your group is to initiate and plan a strategy map from a business perspective.
Every group should select/prepare their case study on a different business type such as:
• Banking
• Manufacturing
• Health
• Education
• Government (local state or federal), or
• Service Industries including Catering, Restaurants, and Hospitality
Students should consult with their lecturer or tutor (either in person or via email) to get their topic approved, and to make sure that there is no direct overlap between groups. Once the topic has been approved, students should begin the preliminary work for the assignment. The assignment has two deliverables:
Requirements
Your report should be professionally organized, written and presented. The presentation should focus on convincing the management of the relevance and appropriateness of the EA project, to convince them to fund the project. The essential points of your report should be covered in the presentation. The presentation should be no longer than 15 minutes, and the emphasis should be on presenting the alignment between the business drivers and the IT initiatives.
An important point: You are not alone on this, create early drafts and keep working on it with the lecturer and tutor until you are satisfied that you got it right.
