A. Analyze the strategies used to negotiate new managed care contracts. Support your analysis with research. First ask yourself, which staff(s) and/or departments would be involved in working with payers/insurance companies to develop a provider contract for your facility? What type of negotiation tactics are needed by your facility to succeed with a new contract? Remember, a contract is an agreement between the payer/insurance company and the provider/facility of what services the facility/provider will agree to provide to the insurance company's/payer members. The contract will also stipulate what the insurance company/payer will reimburse to the provider/facility.

B. Communicate the important role that each individual within this healthcare organization plays with regard to managed care contracts. Be sure to include the different individuals within the healthcare organization. You can combine both A and B. For B, just make sure you identify the staff(s) and their roles they will play when working with the payer/insurance company with managed care contracts.
