Imagine you were just hired by an aluminum can manufacturing plant to manage its database and information system. You have a degree in information systems with a specialty in aligning business and technological planning. Currently, the aluminum can plant information technology extends to two aspects:

-A product materials database: a real-time, database inventory of manufacturing materials and resources

-Finished product tracking: records the number of finished products now ready for shipping Your new manager tells you that the main business plans for the coming year are to increase the quality of the product, reduce defective parts, and streamline the manufacturing process. Your manager wants to know what types of technologies are available to help the company achieve these goals.
