The model outlined on page 170 of your text in the "Steps in the Training Process" really is what we call in HR "the ADDIE model".

ADDIE refers to:

-Analysis (of needs)

-Design

-Development

-Implementation

-Evaluation

It is imperative employee learning objectives and goals are in alignment with and in support of organizational strategic goals. ADDIE is what is used in HR and many other learning and development areas in our employer's companies as we determine training needs, develop the training classes/programs, and evaluate the outcomes of that training. ADDIE is a well-known instructional design model - please know it is used in far more fields than Human Resource Departments.

As you see in your book in the five Steps outlined on page 170, these steps and the ADDIE model are what we call cyclical in that each phase/step depends on the time, effort, and resources devoted to the previous phase. If one phase is skipped, the program designed may fail.

In Chapter 6, you chose the "best applicant" to hire for our Legal Administrative Assistant role. For this chapter 7 assignment, follow the steps in the training process/ADDIE to train your new employee to perform the job.

You need to include all five steps as follows - this assignment will be much simpler for you if you have read Chapter 7 in its entirety before beginning.

-Step 1 - Needs Assessment

-Conduct a needs assessment for the job by developing a competency model identifying the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed ot perform the job successfully.

-Step 2 - Select how you will shape behavior

-Specify is you will use positive reinforcement, punishment, negative reinforcement, or extinction. State the rewards and/or punishment you will use. This is all discussed in your chapter 7 readings.

-Step 3 - Design the training

-Select and describe in detail the training method(s) you will use to shape the behavior.

-Step 4 - Deliver the training

-Select one of the four methods of delivery outlined in the chapter that you will use to conduct the actual training and describe how you will deliver the training.

-Step 5 - Assessment of training

-Select one of the four assessment methods and describe in detail how you will determine if the trianing did in fact shape the behavior.
