Statistical Process Control is a process in which quality control is tracked throughout a process. In the article given we were looking at SPC in healthcare and how that can increase patient care and operations through tracking data. The article details the benefits of SPC in healthcare given the measuring process of many things such as heart attacks, infection rates, etc. SPC can increase the healthcare systems ability to detect problems early and for healthcare employees to learn more about how to prevent further damage.

The beverage industry such as Coca-Cola uses SPC to monitor its operations and manufacturing of its beverages. In Coca-Cola's factories, SPC is used "to control and improve the quality of their products and find out any shortcoming in its quality level in any production stage" (Mayyaleh). The quality control is checked throughout this process through tracking the raw materials entering each can, shape and dimension of the bottle, and throughout production as well as the final evaluation of each product. Coca-Cola's use of SPC in the beverage industry increases its competitive advantage and increase customer loyalty. These inspections not only maintain the productivity and quality of a production line but increase the quality as it is tracked throughout the process. This allows the company to see where mistakes are commonly being made or if something could be taking more time than others. The company has so many different beverages that it is important they have control over what is going into them and the quality of the overall product. With so many made and sold every single day, it is important that all Coca-Cola products are consistent and this SPC system allows Coca-Cola to track and monitor throughout the entirety of the production process all the way to its sales.
