If you are pinging a web server from a user's client PC, how might the statistical information provided by ping be useful to you?

When pinging another machine with its Domain name its IP address is returned. But when pinging an IP address (not the domain name) the IP address is still returned. Can you think why ping does not return the domain name that is associated with an IP address?

What is different about the ping test from these Internet based tools and the ping test from your PC?
