A photon wavelength 8.5 nm collides with a stationary electron and spreads off perpendicular to its direction, as seen in the diagram. You must analyze the steps below.

a. Use momentum conservation in the x-direction to find the final v(sub x) of the electron. (You can assume a classical particle, no relativity).

b. Use momentum conservation in the y-direction to find a relationship between the final wavelength lambd(sub f) of the photon and the final v(sub y) of the electron.

c. Finally, use energy conservation in combo with part b. to solve for lambda(sub f) of the photon and v(sub y) of the electron. (Use the quadratic formula)
