Case: Mr David Moichela, a business researcher, is currently conducting an empirical investigation into the impact of top talent jobsatisfaction on business performance of companies listed on the JSE. He suspects that a quantitative variable, top talentjob satisfaction, may be predictive of an event, superior business performance. A review of the extant literature revealedthat top talent turnover costs mount steeply, arising from the direct replacement costs of talent acquisition, the opportunitycosts of vacant positions and time to productivity, and-more broadly-lost business performance (Patro, 2014).Mr Moichela first identified 1,027 top talent employees (TTEs) of 358 JSE-listed companies using a 'quality of hire'assessment tool. Secondly, he collected data on 'job satisfaction of top talent employees' from 332 TTEs working at 102JSE-listed companies using a 1 - 10 rating scale (1 being the lowest level of job satisfaction, 10 being highest level of jobsatisfaction). Thirdly, he used a Balanced Scorecard to measure the 'business performance' of each of the 102 JSE-listedcompanies.

Question 1: State Mr Moichela's independent variable (IV) and dependent variable (DV).

Question 2: State the levels of measurement of the two variables employed in Mr Moichela's study.
