Assignment: STAT200 Introduction to Statistics, University of Maryland University College
As we go into the last week of the course and prepare for the final exam, this is a good opportunity to reflect on how you may use statistics in the future either in your personal life or at work. For me I do statistics for fun keeping track of my golf game, analyzing my favorite sports teams, and tracking my weight among other things. This week's project will have two parts. Part one will be to look at how use might use descriptive statistics and the other how you might use inferential statistics.
Part 1: How might use descriptive statistics in your life? Describe the data you would collect, what your sample would be, what your variable(s) would be, what graphs you might make, and what your statistic would be (if applicable).
Part 2: How might you use descriptive statistics in your life? What question will you try to answer? Describe the data you would collect, the sample, the random variable(s), the parameter, the analysis you would use. Describe the steps of the analysis and appropriate hypothesis, test level and/or confidence interval.
