Discussion 1.

Starbucks serves its customers from inputs to outputs by knowing the needs of its customers. Starbucks is aware that the customers are what drive the business in growth. Therefore, they have performance objectives to be able to provide an exceptional service to their customers. This would include the speed of the workers. The workers are required to be quick and smooth as they do not want customers to have to wait to receive their items. In addition, a main one is quality. When reviewing the suppliers page, there was a lot of requirements and straightforward qualifications and rules. This is to ensure that the output of items have great quality. Based off reading into the supplier page, it was obvious from the beginning that Starbucks wants suppliers that are able to provide that great quality and freshness of all products. Also, there is dependability. This dependability plays both ways. The input of customers to Starbucks allows the output of exceptional service, and that works the other way around also.

In addition, Starbucks cares about the environment, so they want to provide and produce a benefit to the customers and community. This would include producing social, economic, and environmental benefits. This also comes from the supplier's link page in that it requires its suppliers to have standards and requirements and to follow them. There is an agreement that states the code of conduct at the time of dealing.

Discussion 2.

Starbucks Coffee Company is the largest globalized coffee shop, retailer. Their high marketing and various products have led to increased recognition. This has allowed them to continue growth and expand. Starbuck's objective is to be recognized and be the most respected brand of coffee in the nation. Their mission is "to inspire and nurture the human spirit - one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time" (Starbucks, 2020).

Starbucks has in place supplier guidance to provide current and future suppliers requirements that they must comply with. Ethical standards are sets of guidelines set out by the organization's members to express the core moral beliefs. In all corporate interactions, Starbucks is committed to the highest ethical principles. In our book, it states," At the heart of operations management is the transformation process through which inputs (resources such as labor, money, materials, and energy) are converted into outputs (goods, services, and ideas)" (Ferrell, Hirt, & Ferrell, 2020). This is very important to the success of the company.

An input for Starbucks is that they use a vertically integrated supply chain, which means that the company is engaged in every step of the supply chain process, from coffee beans to cups of coffee delivered to customers. The organization claims that communicating directly with farmers means that the same consistency and taste levels are obtained for all its coffee beans. Starbucks also partners directly with farmers, and the organization is only dedicated to offering Fair Trade coffee, which is ethically sourced. The coffee beans are shipped to distributing centers, where baristas use them. The output is the specialty drinks that are made to their customers. Starbucks is successful because it has offered an atmosphere that has transformed how much the world thinks about coffee shops and how many of us consume coffee outside our homes.
