Classify the following organisms in all ways you can given the information you were provided. a. Staphylococcus saprophyticus: Grows on TSA (0.5% NaCl) and can also grow in MSA (7.5-10% NaCl); grows in the human body (37?), however it does not grow in the refrigerator; can ferment many sugars and can also grow by aerobic respiration. It must consume organic compounds. b. Geogemma barossii: Requires at least 2% NaCl to grow, however it cannot grow at 8% NaCl; Can grow in the autoclave (121?), however it cannot grow in the human body; it can grow by reducing iron oxides however it dies in the presence of O2. It must consume organic compounds. c. Halobacterium salinarum: Dies at 8% NaCl or lower and requires 4.2M (around 23%) NaCl to grow well; grows optimally at 37? and won't grow in the refrigerator; it can only grow by aerobic respiration. It is able to fix carbon.
