1. Start a new worksheet and change its name to P3. Then, answer the following questions, making sure to identify which part each answer goes with (as shown below). You DO NOT have to use an Excel function to get the answers for this. You may just compute them manually or use your TI graphing calculator.

a) There are 15 crayons in a new box. What is the probability that the orange and then the green will be selected at random without replacement?

b) Suppose that on any given day, there is a 15% chance that your internet connection will be lost at some point that day. What is the probability that your internet connection will not be lost for five days in a row?

c) Suppose that 4 out of the 15 doctors in a small hospital are female, 11 out of the 15 doctors are under the age of 45, and 2 of the 15 doctors are both female and under the age of 45. What is the probability that you are randomly assigned a female doctor or a doctor under the age of 45?

d) If you roll one six-sided dice twice, what is the probability that the second number rolled is at least as large as the first?

2. Use Excel to answer the following question. Use an Excel function for each answer - DO NOT just type in a number. Change the name of this worksheet to Cards. In a standard deck of 52 cards, 12 are face cards (king, queen, jack of all four suits). Assume that 5 cards are selected with replacement out of a well-shuffled deck. a) What is the probability of getting exactly two face cards? b) What is the probability of getting at least two face cards?

3. Start a new worksheet and call it Normal. Then, find the following probabilities using the Standard Normal Distribution. Format it as shown. You may use a TI-83 or TI-84 calculator, Excel, or just the Standard Normal Table in the book to calculate the value.

a) P(z < 1.43) =

b) P(z > -0.81) =

c) P(0.78 < z < 2.64) =

d) P(z < -1.65 or z > 1.65) =
