Problem: A production operator cuts a solid circular disc, the weight of which is found to have a mean of 500 g and standard deviation 15g. Another operator cuts a smaller disc which has a mean weight of 250g and standard deviation 10g, and attaches it to the first disc. Both discs follow a normal distribution.

Required:

(a) What is the probability that the first operator cuts a disc that is more than 470g and less than 530g?

(b) What is the mean and standard deviation of the weight of the final product?
